I first discovered Lace Fence when doing research for different types of barriers to disguise construction for a Metro bus depot. It proves that something so ubiquitous can be aesthetic, yet still serve its original function.
Joep Verhoeven, one of the young designers at Demakersvan came up with this idea as part of his graduation project while still a student at Design Academy Eindhoven. He utilizes traditional Dutch lace making techniques to change ordinary chain link security fencing into works of art.
