HOW DID THIS GET MADE? with guest Dave Holmes just got to reviewing Tiptoes.  Jay and I made some notes on it when we watched it last summer:

Tiptoes (2003)

Two brothers - a dwarf (Rolfe) and one normal-sized (Steve). When Steve’s girlfriend Carol becomes pregnant, the pair are fearful that the baby will inherit the dwarfism gene. Matters are complicated still further when she finds herself falling in love with Rolfe.

(not true, she does not fall in love with Rolfe, which makes me think the summary writer didn’t make it through the movie.)

Notes.

  • The movie starts off with McConaughey turning down a blowjob from Beckinsale. I’m already not on board with this.
  • Cast: Gary Oldman (playing McConaughey’s dwarf twin, a’la Danny Devito in Twins), Peter Dinklage (playing a marxist motorcycle riding frenchman), Patricia Arquette, and Kate Beckinsale as the artsy independent painter.
  • Artsy people wear leather studded neck collars, wear quirky clothing, and have crazy hair and hats.
  • I’m pretty sure none of the cast read the script. Jay thinks McConaughey was probably paid in weed.
  • The DVD cover made me think it was a fairy tale movie where Arquette was some mystical white queen. Turns out she just looks like a Juggalo.
  • “So you had a circle jerk with a bunch of little people? I would love to see that!”  Actual sincere line said in the movie by Beckinsale after hearing a story about what it was like growing up with little people.
  • “Ding Dong Dang…” there is a very indiscernible bit of dialogue between McConaughey & Beckinsale during the circle jerk discussion scene. This is what we think he says.
